Boston head coach Joe Matzla says he only thinks about the healthy Celtics after a disappointment in game six, despite the overwhelming blow of losing Jason Tatum for a long time.
The Boston Celtics reign was when the NBA champions came to a disappointing end against the New York Knicks on Friday night. The team was suddenly thrown away from the NBA playoffs with a 38-point blow.
Jason Tatum’s horrible Achilles injury has been talked about a lot since he went down in Game 4. Boston was able to win Game 5 without him. Jalen Brown gave his victory to the injured superstar.
However, Game 6 was too much for the team to handle. The Knicks had four double-digit starters to secure a victory.
Damage to TATUM will have a greater long-term impact on Boston. But director Joe Mazzura isn’t thinking about that now.
With their season over, the Boston Celtics have to deal with the effects of Tatum’s injuries. However, Mazzulla has not yet reached that point.
The head coach, who spoke to the press after the team’s embarrassing loss, explained that he was focusing on the people he played.
“I wasn’t really thinking about a second of that,” Mazzura said of Tatum’s injuries. “I’m focused on the guys in that locker room right now.”
“I’m grateful for that effort and what they gave it. That’s really important.”
If a team suffers from such losses, it can cause considerable damage to their morale. Especially when they were defending champions.
The Celtic Stars said they wanted to win for Tatum, but they couldn’t do that. Anyway, they have the respect and support of the head coach.
“I told the guys in the locker room that one of the honors of my life was being able to coach this group of groups,” Matzura said.
“So you’re going down this list. Everyone is a champion and a warrior. They’ve done a lot of great things in this league. It’s an honor to share the locker room with them.
The offseason means a lot of upheaval for the Celtics. But for now, Joe Mazzola is focused on watching players who have done a lot for him and the franchise.
