New York Knicks veteran guard Josh Hart predicts the young Detroit Pistons team will be surprised in the playoffs.
For the first time since the 2018-19 NBA season, the Detroit Pistons will return to the playoffs behind the incredible 2024-25 campaign.
Even if the Pistons playoff drought is over, in the end, Kade Cunningham and Co.’s work isn’t over.
Plus, veteran guard Josh Hart made big predictions about his opponent, so it feels like the Knicks are willing to challenge their young, “wild” Pistons team.
Given that the NY Knicks are the third species in the East, they take on the piston.
Before the matchup was confirmed, Hart made a “strange” comment about the piston via the bench seat podcast.
“We want to see the good guys in Detroit, in the playoffs, because that might be us. The playoffs… the game is a different game,” Hart said of the Pistons.
“But this is why I think this might benefit Detroit. They’re so young, reckless and wild, so it’s going to be very naive to the fact that this is a playoff and this is another game,” he added.
Piston has one of the youngest rosters in the league. They have incredible energy, but that also means a lack of playoff experience, which can have a devastating effect on their deep running hopes.
All teams in the league play basketball from another brand. In the case of pistons, it’s about having fun and playing freely with hardwood.
Hart thinks it’s fine, but the team could exploit this playoff time.
“This isn’t Game 52 in an 82-game season. Keep it up. They’ll be so naive. They’ll go out there and hoop freely. That’s the beauty,” Hart continued.
“Sometimes there is a little beauty of ignorance of the situation,” the 30-year-old concluded.
Depending on the current situation, Hart will soon have the opportunity to prove his point is correct against the piston.
Meanwhile, Hart’s comments about the Pistons culture being “naive” could lead to teams raising the playoff notch and proving the Knicks veteran wrong.
