Kendrick Perkins wasn’t impressed with Draymond Green’s latest performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Without Stephen Curry, no one expects the Warriors to overcome the Timberwolves and play the Western Conference Finals.
However, you should be able to win one game and expand the series to 6-7.
To do this, Jimmy Butler will need to play like a MVP candidate he played in Game 3, and Green will need to play like this year’s defensive player.
Perkins believes they are defeating Green on Saturday, May 10th as the Warriors lost 102-97 and urged them to do more in the future.
The former NBA champion criticized Green for his poor performance in games 2 and 3 when there was no curry. The 35-year-old needs to play better than usual to compensate, but he’s gotten significantly worse.
In a postgame analysis, Perkins asked Green when he stood up on opportunity when “his team needs him the most.”
“When will Draymond Green step up without Steph Curry? That’s the question,” he said. “In Game 2, he wonders if Steph Curry was not playing, so he was intentionally trying to leave?
“And tonight you have the assignment to stop the second option in Minnesota. Minnesota is Julius Randle, and he ended with a triple double on your home court and you did nothing to help your team.
“I know Draymond won’t score, but the fact that he disappeared defensively means he should be that leader and his team needed him the most without his best player, Steph Curry.
In stark contrast to Green, Perkins was largely impressed as Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves to victory in Game 3.
Ant-Man played everything except four minutes, providing 36 points, four rebounds and four assists, injecting “life and confidence” into his team in the process.
“There are certain people in this world who just give you life and confidence,” Perkins added. “Anthony Edwards brings people to life, and he gives me life by watching him on TV.
“I’m watching Julius Randle play the best basketball of his career this postseason, and I’m watching Anthony Edwards.
“He came out in the fourth quarter and took over the game completely, matching Jimmy Butler’s energy and more from inside and out.
“Julious Randle and Anthony Edwards play the way they play as duo now and not only win this series, they have a legal chance to go to the NBA Finals.”
