Kendrick Perkins shares a controversial view on Luka Donsic’s stint with the Dallas Mavericks.
The Slovenian was selected for the Atlanta Hawks in the 2018 draft, but was traded for the Mavericks in moves that have been debated many times around the league.
His influence was a moment with the Dallas Mavericks, who posted big numbers in his rookie season to win the Roy Award against Trae Young in 2018.
The entire city came behind him and the Mavericks began to launch several deep playoff runs, including the 2024 NBA Finals.
Just a few months after reaching the final, Nico Harrison decided to trade stars for the franchise, which received a lot of criticism.
Luka Doncic’s move to the La Lakers seemed to be on track until there were playoffs that looked exhausted and the question mark began to rise under his conditioning.
He has been found working on his body in the offseason, and there are hopes for a big campaign from him next year.
Discussing the conditioning on the “The Road Trippin” podcast, former NBA player Perkins denounced Mavs and marked Mark Cuban for all his needs and ruining the player.
Donsic spent the first seven years of his Dallas career under the Cuban ownership that sold his team’s shares last year.
Perkins revealed that he saw how the new ownership was being treated by players and decided to make changes to the way things go.
“Can we hold the Dallas Mavericks a bit of responsibility,” Perkins said.
“Mark Cuba is like when you’re coming to the player. I don’t know of any special relationships or owners that correspond to the player than Mark Cuba.”
He went on to add: “Luca has been sedated since he arrived at the Dallas Mavericks. He came there and he gave big numbers, as Mark Cuban has a history of sedating players who cater to them in a variety of ways.
“It was the fact that he might be spoiled, and all of a sudden they sold their team and sold new ownership group Nico Harrison.
Doncic is playing alongside Lebron James, one of the best players in the NBA.
The La Lakers duo started off well, but the team met difficult opponents with the Minnesota Timberwolves during the playoffs.
Many inspire Luka Donsic in anticipation of James’ conditioning and work during the offseason.
But former player Jefferson opposed the idea that he needed some kind of influence to tackle himself.
“I have no intention of changing Luka any place other than Luka,” Jefferson said. “He was a professional athlete since he was 15 years old. His father was a professional athlete.”
Jefferson further stated:
“He’s been around Bron all season now. He knows what it takes. So why isn’t he? So who’s going to be the next influence?”
