Kendrick Perkins may have shared the ultimate hot take on Nikola Jokic. It was so bad that he had to make it clear that he was making a joke on X later.
Nikola Djokic has proven herself an offensive juggernaut and is already considered one of the greatest centers ever. His playmaking abilities in the post changed how the NBA views big men.
The Denver Nuggets superstars are three MVPs and final MVPs. Approaching Game 7 in the Western Conference semi-finals, Jokic compared LeBron James during these playoffs.
The Joker also has respect for his peers. Walker Kessler of the Utah Jazz Center has named him the toughest player to defend at the Western Conference.
All of this refers to one thing. The Serbian superstar is one of the most unstoppable forces in the league. But some people think of stopping him as a joke.
One more effective criticism about the NBA media is that they tend to have a very hot take. Kendrick Perkins is familiar with these.
Marika Andrews began discussing ESPN about Jokic’s Elite Game 7 statistics. I told Perkins he didn’t want to face the Joker in a match like this.
Big Park opposed her distrust and fellow panelist Bob Myers.
“Dokic wouldn’t have wanted this smoke,” he insisted. “Kobe said I am the best post-defender in the league. Kobe Bryant, yeah…”
Myers replied, “What?” Andrews seemed to have resigned and laughed as she simply said, “Okay.”
Perkins played in the NBA for over 15 years, but mostly on good teams. The championship with the Boston Celtics was followed by an NBA final run with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
He was a really good defender, there’s no doubt about that. But even he knows he couldn’t stop Joker. He first made it and then returned his claims in a few hours on social media.
“Jesus Christ. I was joking with the people of Bob and the Maryka,” Perkins wrote in an X post.
The entire episode was completely avoided, but at least the big perks saw a sense of clarity in his stance. If he weren’t there, this would have been shaped to become one of the worst sports media of all time.
