The New York Knicks are set to be a season that is very important to them.
After they failed to make the NBA Finals last season, it’s the Knicks’ championship or bust.
The Knicks have a balanced roster, adding much needed depth to the bench for the offseason.
The Knicks were also completely unharmed, and big man Mitchell Robinson began the season healthy after suffering a 2024-25 injury.
Robinson had a full offseason to prepare his body for next year.
He is motivated to get back on track and become the Knicks’ impactful rim protector and rebounder.
Having Robinson on the front court also helps wear and tear in the town of Karl Anthony.
Kendrick Perkins today explained whether it is important for the Knicks to start Robinson this season in the NBA and why the town will benefit from this decision.
“We were successful when he played with Rudy Gortbert when he was in Minnesota, and let Rudy take on all the defensive duties.
“If I’m Mike Brown, this isn’t even a question. I’m starting Mitchell Robinson, and if it’s about winning, everyone has to line up. That’s about achieving a bigger goal than anyone else.
“The best thing for them is to protect Cat and protect his defensive responsibility, and the only way to do that is to start Mitchell Robinson.”
The first big decision made by new head coach Mike Brown is what the Knicks start lineup will look like.
The Knicks have four set starters, Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Towns. However, the fifth starter remains in question. Josh Hart and Robinson are two options.
There is a debate that Robinson will start with the town. Both played together during the playoffs. The two centers were 8.3 points per 100 property and plus 8.3 points in 165 minutes.
This change will make Hart more stable on the Knicks bench as the leader of the second unit.
Although Brown still has time before making this decision, Robinson and the town frontcourt could be the Knicks’ best chance of this season.
