The Minnesota Timberwolves don’t have another roster heading into a new season. After exiting the second straight Western Conference Finals, the Timberwolves weren’t trying to tinker with their roster this offseason.
Anthony Edwards wasn’t surprised that the Timberwolves lost to the OKC Thunder. However, the team wants to improve their performance from this year.
The Timberwolves only lost Nickaire Alexander Walker to the Atlanta Hawks in free agency. However, they managed to hold some major players.
Timberwolves has signed a $100 million contract with Julius Randle. And after months of speculation, Naz Reid put the pen on paper on a $125 million contract.
With Anthony Edwards secured for the future, the Timberwolves have a strong roster. But if Kendrick Perkins’ predictions come true, the young star could disappoint fans.
Kendrick Perkins spoke on the Trippin’ Podcast about the Minnesota Timberwolves ahead of the new NBA season.
He believes Anthony Edwards will demand trade in the next offseason if the Timberwolves miss the third-year NBA Finals.
“If Anthony Edwards doesn’t make it to the NBA Finals, he’s going to request a deal from Minnesota.
“What I’m saying is Anthony Edwards has been to the conference finals for the second year in a row. If he doesn’t make it to the finals, he’s going to leave.”
So far, Anthony Edwards has not made any such proposals. He is happy in Minnesota. But if the front office struggles to build a solid team around him, Edwards may decide to take his talent elsewhere.
With the Timberwolves choosing not to make many changes to the roster, they need to look at the younger players in search of something new.
