Los Angeles Lakers Outlook Christian Coroco is bidding to show he deserves to have a team role.
Former Toronto Raptors draft pick Christian Coroco could enter his second year with the Los Angeles Lakers developmental system.
The 25-year-old Cameroon-born player uses the Summer League to show that he deserves regular main roster playing time rather than simply a two-way transaction.
And there’s a lot of plot to the 7-foot prospect as La Lakers seeks more depth in the central position.
Christian Coroco played his role in a low-score summer league match between the La Lakers and the La Clippers.
The Clippers scored 67-58 with 19 points led by Jordan Miller. Bronnie James scored the top score for the 17-year-old Lakers.
Christian Coroco had a busy night with the Lakers’ 8 points. He grabbed three rebounds, made three blocks and had three steels.
Although it’s still a raw outlook, Lakers fans were encouraged by what they saw and took them to social media to praise Coroco’s contributions.
“Coroco’s defense makes it difficult to root for him,” he wrote.
The second fan added: “We’ll have to see Coroco getting some rotation minutes over the next season.”
And the third person wrote: “The Coroco looks pretty good.”
“Coroco looks really good defensively,” another fan added.
“Coroco and Bronnie are showing something,” read a further message.
The sixth added, “Big Lakers fans continue to develop Coroco.”
Christian Coroco had to overcome the problem of blood clots in 2024.
He was to play in 37 regular season games, but averaged only 9.2 minutes per game.
Nevertheless, he is a rotation player whose franchise is interested in developing, and similar roles may be awaiting this season.
The Lakers signed DeAndre Ayton to fill their void at the center and also re-signed Jackson Hayes, but Coroco was able to mix and get the opportunity.
