Last weekend, Leicester was officially demoted from the Premier League after a 1-0 loss to Liverpool at King Power Stadium. They want to end their current campaign, which had been a high disappointment, before they start thinking about life in the championship.
Leicester’s task is to ensure an immediate return to the Premier League, and they will become one of their favorites to become one of three clubs to rise to the top division of English football over the 2026-27 season. But they probably need to do business in the summer to strengthen their team, and these days they have been given a welcome task.
Leicester Bank has over £1.25 million from UEFA payment scheme
As reported by Leicester Shire Live, Leicester is one of the clubs that benefited from paying UEFA for players released to compete in national team competitions. In total, 900 European clubs have been cashed out, with the UK clubs winning a total of £40 million.
In Leicester’s case, they received more than £1.25 million as a result of allowing players to serve internationally in the 2020-2024 cycle.
This is a small but convenient boost for Leicester’s financial resources, and could lead to signing new players. It’s the case of a club that replaces a star who is expected to move on at the end of the season, one of them could be the star striker and club legend Jamie Vardy.
It is still unclear whether current manager Rood van Nistelroy is a man with a hand to spend these funds given his future has been widely speculated over the last few weeks.
