Liverpool is about to sign a new central defender this summer with Jarrell Kuansa’s impending departure for Bayer Levarkusen, but differences in ratings have slowed the pursuit of key targets these days.
It is no secret that Liverpool is interested in Mark Guech, the captain of Crystal Palace. The 24-year-old is set to leave this summer as his contract expires in 2026, and his priorities are to join Premier League champions such as Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle, who have shown interest in recent weeks.
However, the move to Anfield may not bear fruit for Guehi as Liverpool is not ready to bolster plans to sign him.
Liverpool’s Mark Guech’s move loses steam to seek price
That’s because, as Ben Jacobs reported, Liverpool is not satisfied with the ratings of Crystal Palace’s Guech. The FA Cup winner will rate the captain from £45-50m, but the Reds will only consider trading if the price is significantly lower.
It has also been reported that if Liverpool decides to move on from Guehi, it will target central bucks in the age range from 18 to 22 years. Jorrel Hato is one of my favourite players in this respect.
Liverpool’s attitude towards Guech gives hope to others like Tottenham and Newcastle, with Arsenal trying to sign Valencia’s Christian Mosquera instead. For now, it will be interesting to see if Hughes is exploring other options, but the people of Selhurst Park stand strong in the face of great interest.
