Otani has left one of the most dominant offensive seasons in the history of the sport, earning home runs, hits, scores, finishing with running, doubles, stolen bases, 50 theft base clubs, 54 home runs, finishing with 59 stolen bases, and inventing stolen bases.
The superstar, a usually two-way player, was the team’s exclusive designated batter for the 2024 season as he recovered from UCL surgery. Nonetheless, Otani won the World Series ring on his first trip to the postseason, closing out his fantastic campaign with the unanimous NL MVP awards.
It was one of the greatest performances in the history of Major League Baseball, but even so, some would want to contaminate the talent of Ohatani, the greatest of all time played the game.
MLB Insider Jeff Passant revealed an anonymous rater named Kansas City Royals Shortstop Bobby Whitt Jr. as the best player in the world.
“At the beginning of this spring, longtime evaluators said they thought Witt was the best player in the world,” Passan wrote. “Is it better than Shohei ohtani? Well, yes, he said at least until Otani came back.”
In 2024, Witt reduced .332/.389/.588 with 32 Homer in 161 games, 31 stolen bases and 109 RBI. Shortstop’s 88 extra bass hits came third in MLB, following Otani (99) and New York Yankees star Aaron Judge (95).
Witt finished runner-up in the American League MVP poll and certainly praised him for having the third-best defensive rating in the big leagues. Unknown evaluators appear to be worthy of Witt’s contribution to both offensive and defense, but to become the best player in the world, they should certainly consider the value of players on a global scale.
Not only is Otani talented, he is also the most famous MLB player in the world. Is there really anyone close to superstars in terms of skill and fame?
The answer is very simple: no.
