Manchester United’s poor start to the 2025/26 season once again raised the pressure on manager Reuben Amorim.
The 40-year-old took the reins last November, but was unable to attack the Red Devils at the Premier League table. He then finished the year with a record 15th place.
However, after making new additions worth £200 million during the offseason, he was unable to change the sides and has already lost 50% of all his top flight outings so far.
His team was knocked out further in the first hurdle of the Carabao Cup, losing to the town of League 2 side Grimsby on a penalty.
Despite constant reports that no manager changes are expected in the near future, many managers are lined up as they could potentially take the reins at Old Trafford.
Man Utd’s manager hunts to replace Amorim
Over the past few days, Crystal Palace Manager Oliver Grasner has been very related to his role at United.
The Austrian led the Eagles to an unbeaten run of 18 games, beating Liverpool over the weekend before adding to their recent FA Cup and Community Shield victory.
But he is not the only boss in their field of vision at the moment. According to the Sun, there is no Red Devils hierarchy considering Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraora’s move.
Their report argues that the United Committee was very impressed with his work in vitality and that if Amorim was given his march order, he could be tempted to make a move.
He is also part of the club’s current list of nominees, replacing the 40-year-old, who is currently sitting with Glasner, but it is still unclear whether he plans to pursue any of the aforementioned candidates.
Why United’s latest targets are the answer to Arteta
Arsenal is a club, but a very few United fans are pleased, but many supporters must be jealous of the gunners under Mikel Arteta and feel a bitter sip.
The Spaniard has been in charge for the Emirates for six years and only won one major trophy, but he has transformed into a consistent Premier League title contender.
His team finished as runner-ups in each of the last three years, but this time he was able to go one more time and then he got a glimpse into the successful side, as seen in their late comeback against Newcastle United.
The 43-year-old gave his fanbase a reason to be proud of their club. This is something Ilaola did with Cherry too, but certainly on a different level than his compatriots.
He was in charge of the South Coast outfit in the summer of 2023, but took the club to new heights.
However, he certainly faces adversity these days, losing key players like Dean Huyssen, Milos Kerkez and Ilya Zabarini to many of the European giants in recent summer.
Despite his departure, he led Cherry to sixth after his first six outings, causing his only loss to Liverpool on the first day at Anfield.
In the words of journalist James Horncastle, via John Brewvin of the Libero Podcast, he is “the best coach in the Premier League.”
Labeled as “incredible” by one journalist, Iraola achieved a 40% victory rate for vitality, taking charge of 38 of 94 matches.
There’s no doubt he has a huge amount of money to play with United. This will allow him to make the desired changes to combat his fellow countrymen who are in charge of the gunners.

The similarities with Arteta, all can see, are of the same age and have had a major impact on England’s top flights after their respective appointments.
Both come from the Basque Country, and United have the opportunity to appoint an incredible manager if they decide to pursue the Iraaura move in the coming months.
His stint at Bournemouth has made him one of Europe’s most talented young managers, but it is unclear how much Cherry will demand for his signature in the coming months.
It remains to be seen whether Iraaura is open to work at Old Trafford, but if he could replicate such talent with the Red Devils – there is no reason why they won’t be able to stand up to the table under his guidance in the future.
