Manchester United’s academy has played a key role in success over the years, as seen in the infamous class of ’92.
The Quintet played a major role in Isle Alex Ferguson’s success at Old Trafford, but it’s safe to say that players who jumped recently were unable to reach such a level.
Marcus Rashford may have scored over 100 goals for the first time, but his attitude led to his end mise, bringing various loan spells from his boyhood outfit.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa and then linked with Lariga Champions Barcelona on loan during the season of the 2025/26 campaign.
But he’s not the only academy star to see his future in recent months being questioned, but another player close to the door to the exit these days.
Cobby Mine’s potential exit from United this summer
After his dream of seeing his final FA Cup goal and a late strike against rival Liverpool, United fans wouldn’t have imagined how Cobbie Mineau’s era would occur at the club.
The 20-year-old played in the 25 Premier League last season, 19 of which came from the starting role, with Reuben Amorim supporting other options in the midfield division.
He has been featured only in the previous 45-minute league action, and said the player himself would come out and hope to leave Old Trafford before the recent transfer deadline.
Any move would have only been a temporary switch away from the Red Devils, but the club refused to let him leave.
Despite the window closure, the future for the youth is still in the air, with another former academy alumnus sliding their clutches a few years ago.
£500K United Star could have been a main replacement for a dream
Despite the success of the aforementioned talent, many unified young people have struggled to make their own impact on their first team. After that, you have to leave the club to make your own name.
James Garner is just one example, and the Red Devils will return to Everton in the summer of 2022 to nail his place at the start 11 in the recent season.
He was shy about Toffee’s 88 appearances, scoring three times, including opening game at the new stadium with Brighton and Hove Albion.
The British are not alone in their deportation. Midfielder Maxi Oedere, who joined the Red Devils at just eight years old, was unable to break into the first team.
He spent 11 years within the academy ranks and had multiple loan spells, including Forest Green Rovers and Altrincham, but it wasn’t enough to catapult him to the upper side.
The board decided to offload him forever last summer, allowing the 20-year-old to join Poland’s Side Regia Warsaw for a mere fee of just £500,000.
This move allowed the midfielder, labelled “Fantastic” by Bruno Fernandez, to make his final campaign 24 times.

As a result of his impressive fundamental statistics, he secured a move to Side Strasbourg, France this summer, with the League One outfit paying £5.2 million for his signature.
If Oyedele continues his development in France, it will not be surprising to see him join Chelsea in the near future – especially considering that his current side also owns the same group as Enzo Maresca’s clothes.
The decision to sell him could prove to be wrong in the coming years, especially given the recent struggles at Old Trafford, which have endured during Amorim’s reign.
Given Mainoo’s current situation, he could have left Red Devils in the coming years. He then left a big hole in the center of the side that Oyedele could have filled if he were still at the club.
