Mark Daigneault is a supporter of one of the OKC Thunder players in all aspects of the game.
The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Denver Nuggets to go 3-2 in the second round series. Thunder has won one victory since 2016 from reaching its first Western Conference Finals.
The series proves that having a superstar isn’t enough to find playoff success. If anything, it’s your support cast that makes the difference.
Alex Caruso’s championship experience has produced a lot of chatter among the fans. Along with him, Cason Wallace has won the praises of Kendrick Perkins among many others.
But there’s yet another Thunderstar who’s been getting a lot of praise from his head coach. It took Mark Daigneault to select him positively.

Mark Daigneault spoke after the match about Lu Dort’s performance in Game 5. He admitted that the player’s performance was not a surprise to him.
If anything, Daigneault claimed he knows better than betting on Lu Dort when it comes to big game situations.
“I don’t bet on Lou. He has something special about him. He’s always getting back on his feet. He’s not perfect. But he’s always going to respond and always compete.”
“You can always count on him. It’s easy. There’s something special about him. I don’t like betting on that guy.”
Dort was fantastic in his role in Thunder, scoring 12 points beyond the ARC with great efficiency from the field.

Lu Dort has built a great reputation for himself as a defender. In fact, at some point this season, he was competing for the Defensive Player of the Year Award.
However, in these playoffs he transformed himself into three reliable wings. Dort averages at least two 3 pointers created per game in the playoffs.
His efficiency beyond the arc is a bit poor now. But considering how shot efficiency drops across the board for all players in the playoffs, the Thunder will live up to this.
I hope that tonight’s performance will help him improve his shot choices. The Thunder needs shooting from the supporting cast.
