Macy Barber broke her silence after a late withdrawal from the UFC Vegas 107 main event.
Barber was scheduled to face Erin Blanc Field on Saturday in the fight night headliner at the UFC apex. The fight promotional video has ended airing. This usually leads to the first fighter walking into the octagon. Instead, commentators Brendan Fitzgerald, Daniel Cormier and Laura Sanko revealed that Barber was about to go for a walk before turning around and returning to the locker room area.
After a commercial break, Fitzgerald announced that Barber’s late “medical issues” had hurt her from the fight.
On Sunday, Barber issued a statement on Instagram, but with a slight response to Blanchfield, no details were given as to why she was not allowed to compete medically.
“It’s not something I was planning for the Sunday Post,” Barber wrote. “Thank you for your prayers and support, and I apologize to the UFC (Mick Maynard, Dana White, Sean Shelby and Erin Blanchfield).
“PS: My life isn’t annoying. This is just a bad hand. We’re getting to the bottom of all that and coming back.”
The “disruptive” comment directly addresses Blanchefield’s criticism for Barber after the fight was cancelled when she said the 27-year-old flyweight was “a complete mess in every aspect of her life.”
Barber was scheduled to appear for the first time in 14 months after a health issue that was hospitalized for several days after UFC 299 defeated Katlyn Cerminara. The “future” fought the MMA because they were unable to give the doctor an accurate answer as to what the problem was.
