Mike Perry dismisses the possibility of a fight with Conor McGregor: "You're still owned by the UFC."

Mike Perry has no issues with Conor McGregor despite the recent altercation.

In 2023, Perry was in the midst of a career renaissance, making the transition to the Knuckle Fighting Championship. In the main event of BKFC 41, Perry stopped former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rock Hold and solidified himself as the biggest star of the fast-growing sport. Soon after that, Conor McGregor entered the ring, leading to a showdown between the two, building towards a possible battle.

McGregor later became the owner of BKFC, and after Perry lost to Jake Paul in a boxing match in July 2024, McGregor tore “Platinum” to start promotions for his own fight and threatened to fire him. It began a series of front and rear comments among them. It calmed down afterwards, but the rivalry reignited at a recent BKFC press conference when Perry called out the two and McGregor’s fight and replied to Perry “dance for me.”

But while it may seem like there’s real hostility between the two, Perry says that isn’t the case. At least not on his side.

“I’m a little confused. I’m a little confused,” Perry told Demetrious Johnson on his YouTube when asked how his situation was. “I held things in a certain way and the guy asked me. I didn’t think I would actually ask myself what my Connor McGregor was like. I think it’s stupid not to expect that. But they said, ‘Hey, I want to fight you.’ I was confused.

“There are a lot of people like, “You want to hit him” and “I wish you did this.” And I am, but why do you hate it so much? Because he said he should fire me. The guy who was in my face and told me you were fighting October 11th.

“He stole a little spark of that announcement because I called him to fight, he had to protect himself, and he’s announcing my date.

For Perry, the whole situation wasn’t as big as people would do, but he made McGregor take Snied shots anyway.

“People, you should have hit him, and I, why, why?” Perry said. “I’m a profighter. We’re putting on lines. We start a square with fairness. If someone hits me first or touches my face, I try to get to them. And if I can get through five guards, I’ll hit them. But that’s part of the game.

“I was happy to be back, I was promoting tequila. I looked good on stage, my wife was thinking in the audience. And I didn’t want anyone to throw a dolly at her or anything like that.”

He is part of the BKFC owner, but McGregor still has two fights left in the UFC contract. The former two-division UFC champion has not competed since 2021, but has teased many times over the recent proposed UFC White House card.
