ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins was called out for a misleading take on Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The 2024-25 NBA season is not ideal for the Milwaukee Bucks due to the poor start of the campaign.
But as the season progressed, the Bucks were able to find their way. Of course, they won the 2025 NBA Cup and finish as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.
2x NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is undoubtedly the biggest reason behind the team’s turnaround. However, ESPN appears to have overlooked Giannis’ numbers this season.
So far, the Greek freaks have played for the Bucks in 67 games this season. In these appearances, he averages 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game.
Antetokounmpo also shot an impressive 60.1% off the field. If everything goes well, it will be his second straight season, filming more than 60% off the floor.
Despite having these numbers, ESPN recently uploaded a video titled “Giannis Washed?” Obviously, it was an attempt to get more views of the clips, but it ended with the official X handle of the Bucks to call them.
“Giannis literally plays the way he has,” Bucks writes to X.
This is a perfect example of how media stories reduce players’ chances of receiving end-of-season awards. After all, looking at the numbers of Antetokounmpo, he should be one of the top names to win the regular season MVP award.
Unfortunately, the media is calling for a discussion of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander vs Nikola Jokic for the honor of MVPs who essentially overlooked Giannis’ achievements.
The controversial take called by the Bucks was essentially misunderstood because of the bad video title.
After all, ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins claims that Antetokounmpo is the second-best power in NBA history, chasing only the San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan.
“In my eyes, Giannis is the second best power ever behind Tim Duncan, and he can make people around him better at speeds. Every time I look up, Giannis does a triple double.”
Following this view, Perkins said that Antetocomo has the opportunity to remind fans of his talent in the playoffs.
“This is an opportunity for Giannis to show the world this postseason. “I’m Giannis Antetocompo. I’m still the best player, if not the best player in the world.”
Perkins concluded his statement by asserting whether the Bucks met the Indiana Pacers in the opening round of the postseason. Antetocomo was able to push the series into seven games on his own, or even win for the Bucks.
