This process is systematic and the efforts are meticulous. Los Angeles star Mookie Betts has no superpower he can rely on his swing.
He was hitting .254 with an OPS of .742 before Shortstop kept his broken toe. Betts thought these numbers were disappointed, and they were his standard as his OPS was the lowest of his career.

Betts’ continued struggle on the plate planted the seeds of doubt as the star wondered if he would return to his best form.
“Yeah, I definitely have doubts,” Betts told Bill Plunkett on the Orange County Register. “The game is running. The game is running. If you don’t keep moving, you’ll be left behind.
The start of the 2025 season was difficult for Betts, who came down with a violent stomach virus towards the end of spring. While he traveled to Japan with the rest of his team, he was eventually sent home early and recovered after 10 days by resting for the ‘ home opener.
Betts believes he developed a bad habit on his return after losing nearly 20 pounds due to illness. However, the broken toes could have been much needed break bets needed to reorganize into the batter box.
Since returning from injury, Betts has an .351 batting average and a .901 OPS in nine games.
“I don’t have any superpowers to retreat, I’m not those people,” explained Betts. “I have nothing to retreat them, so it really needs to be right. My process needs to be right. I might say ‘Oh, hand and eye adjustment’. I feel that it’s my process because everyone is elite at this level.
