Newcastle were without a starting striker for the first few weeks of the season due to the Alexander Isak scandal in the summer. Although things have improved now, there is a common understanding that similar situations must be avoided in the future.
There are a number of top players whose contracts will expire in the next two to three years, including Sven Botman (2027), Tino Libramento and Bruno Guimarães (both 2028). And regarding the latter, we plan to address his situation in the near future.
Newcastle planning contract negotiations with Bruno Guimarães
According to Football Insider, Pete O’Rourke has revealed that Newcastle’s new sporting director Ross Wilson will speak to Guimarães about a new contract.
“Well, I think it would be ideal if Newcastle could sign Bruno to a new contract and I think all parties would probably be willing to sit down and discuss a new deal.
“It appears that new sporting director Ross Wilson intends to discuss possible new contracts with a number of his star players. He wants to end all speculation about their futures and avoid a similar situation with Alexander Isaac. “So, yes, there will definitely be talks at some point in the near future with Bruno and his officials to see if a new contract can be agreed.
Guimarães has been an outstanding performer for Newcastle since joining from Lyon in January 2022. He was instrumental in Saturday’s late win against Fulham and is expected to continue to be such a force in Eddie Howe’s side for years to come. And there are already rumors that he wants to commit his future to St James’ Park.
