Former Team India’s First Bowler Varun Aaron recently joined the “this or that” game to select the largest overseas pace in IPL history. The cricketer turned commentator chose former Mumbai Indian (MI) high-speed bowler Rasis Maringa at the biggest overseas pace in a cash-rich tournament.
Varun Aaron was one of the few real high-speed bowlers in India during his playing career. He went into the spotlight after consistently bowling at high speeds. Varun played in five IPL franchises and won 44 wickets in 52 matches. He last played in the Gujarat Titans (GT) tournament in 2022.

The game began with Mustafi Zur Rahman and Mitchell Johnson. Varun also chose Johnson for Anrich Nortje, Morne Morkel, Pat Cummins, Mitch McClenaghan and Andrew Tye. He chose Dale Stein over Australia’s fast bowler.
Varun Aaron chose Trent Boult over Johnson. He continued to pick Boult over Mitchell Stark and Josh Hezlewood. When Lasith Malinga’s name came up, Varun gave up on New Zealand sailors. He continued his maringa over Kagiso Rabada and Dwayne Bravo in the “this or that” game.

Lasis Maringa, one of the major wicket takers in IPL history
Known for his pinpoint yoker, Rasis Maringa had an extraordinary IPL career as a player. The Sri Lankan speedster played 122 matches in nine seasons, averaging 19.85 and earning an economic rate of just 7.16. Maringa ranks eighth among the major wicket takers in IPL history.
The 41-year-old was part of the campaign that won the Mumbai Indian titles in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.
After his retirement after the 2019 season, Malinga joined the Royals in Rajasthan as a bowling coach. He later rejoined Mumbai Indians in the same role after the franchise split up with Shane Bond after 2023.

Mi gained momentum with a victory in his first home fixture against the Kolkata Knight Rider (KKR), but his form was soaked for two more times in a row. After five matches, they managed one victory and now only two points are eighth in the points table.
