Nottingham Forest has now filed a £15 million offer to the “elegant” midfielder.
Forest eager to another midfielder after Lewis
The noise surrounding Nuno Espirito Santo’s future has become an unnecessary distraction, and the manager’s future is questionable after publicly revealing that his relationship with Marinakis has been worsening since last season.
But up to this point, Tricky Tree had enjoyed a very positive summer transfer window, bringing together Omali Hutchinson, Dan Nudoy and James McAtee, but securing the future for Morgan Gibbs White was undoubtedly the most important business.
Forest recently added another midfielder to the ranks. Juventus’ Douglas Lewis has arrived on the loan for his first season loan, including a conditional obligation to purchase next summer.
Despite adding a proven Premier League midfielder to the ranks, Nottingham Forest is keen to introduce a more defensive option before the September 1 deadline, and the offer was filed as Soungoutou Magassa in Monaco.
This is slightly higher than West Ham’s 16 million euro (£14 million) offer, according to a report by Footmerkato (via Sports Witness), which states that the forest is offering a proposal of 17 million euros (£15 million).
Both offers are still on the table now, but there is competition from elsewhere, and Atalanta is also enthusiastic about defensive midfielder, and recently contacted his entourage to assess the potential for a deal.
So, if a bid war arises, there could be a fierce battle with Magassa’s signatures before the transfer deadline.
“Elegant” Magassa could be a great signature for the forest
As mentioned earlier, Forest has significantly improved the midfield this summer, and while most of their signatures are thriving in the future, the Monaco Maestro has a more defensive mindset.
In fact, the French have worked very well over many important defensive metrics over the past year compared to his positioning peers.

Scout Jacek Kulig had described the 21-year-old as a “elegant” player in the past, but revealed that the youngster can slot at centre-back.
Not only that, but scout Ben Matinson believes the Monaco starlet is extremely comfortable getting the ball. “On the ball, he has a positive mindset to spread a midfielder’s high-up or spray pass onto his wings. His passing range is at the top.”
So, Magassa, who played in the Champions League seven times for Monaco last season, could be a great addition to Nuno’s team, and moving to the ground in the city would be a more attractive proposition than joining West Ham given the recent struggle.
