Pat Spencer knows that the Golden State Warriors and other teams whose skill set is struggling for that reason.
One of the Golden State Warriors’ biggest success stories was the signature of Pat Spencer. After two years in the NBA G League, Spencer acquired his first big time taste in 2024.
The Warriors signed a two-way agreement with Spencer in February 2024. However, it was the following season that he left an impression on him. Stephen Curry was very impressed with Spencer early on.
Spencer succeeded in the NBA from lacrosse. This is the goal I embarked on when I left sports in 2019.
The former Warriors star recognised Spencer’s worth, but other NBA teams didn’t think his fulfilling role was important. This is what he talked about after the Warriors preseason game.
Pat Spencer spoke to reporters after his victory over the Lakers. He had a strong performance, scoring 12 points, notching two steels in the process.
When discussing what he brings to the Warriors, Spencer acknowledged that his gritty play and shooting ability made him valuable, but he hinted that many NBA teams didn’t see its worth.
“If you’re someone who can connect dots but can do other things, if you knock down three balls, there’s always a place for you.
“Unfortunately, there are many organisations stuck at the bottom that still value length and athleticism than IQ, and they tend to stay in the lottery every year.”
In the Golden State Warriors, Pat Spencer finds a role that fits him perfectly. He’s not a key starter or bench player, but he fills the key gap as a rough two-way guard for him.
Last season, Spencer averaged 2.5 points, 1.2 assists and 1.2 rebounds, playing just 6.4 minutes per game.
He doesn’t get much playing time, but when called out, Spencer is able to provide the Warriors with solid defense and floor spacing.
As the Warriors compete for the NBA championship, players like Spencer are essential to success.
