Arsenal will try to sign a new top-level striker this summer. New sports director Andrea Berta will be tasked with completing that objective. The club’s main target in this position appears to have changed since his arrival, but now there may be complications that creep in as he enters the transfer window.

For months, Arsenal was determined to make a move for Alexander Isaac, but Berta’s arrival appears to have poured cold water into the pursuit. Nor will Newcastle be planning to sell or negotiate with clubs of interest.

Instead, Arsenal is turning his attention to Viktor Gyoker, who Berta has identified as his preferred target. However, the senses from the sports CP striker seem to be mutual.

According to Defensa Central (via TeamTalk), Gyokeres is reportedly very enthusiastic about their summer travel to Real Madrid. The Swedish striker is allegedly told his representative to have a consultation with the La Liga Giants to measure whether he is interested in bringing him to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid already has Killian Mbappe in their books, so it would be surprising that they pursue a Gyoker deal. The report also suggests that they are considering other options to improve their teams in the summer.

Arsenal will certainly drive plans to have him as the new starting striker, as Gyoker is unlikely to be affected by alleged interest in his move to Real Madrid. And while the defensive European champions probably won’t be a competition, they could be challenged by things like Chelsea and Man United.
