"Some teams" approach Sergio Perez for F1 returns

Sergio Perez revealed that “several teams” approached the potential return in Formula 1.

The 35-year-old Mexican left without a drive in 2025 after being dropped to Red Bull at the end of last season.

Perez said he would take sabbatical for six months to recover from his passionate 2024 2024 before deciding on the next step in his career.

He remains open to a possible F1 comeback and confirmed that several teams have contacted him regarding the 2026 drive.

“If I find a project that motivates me to come back completely, it’s very appealing to consider that in a place where the team believes in me and where they appreciate my career, my experiences and everything I can bring to the team,” Perez told F1.com.

“So I gave myself for at least six months to get all the options on the table and decide what to do next in my career.

“There are some very interesting projects out there. Since Abu Dhabi, I’ve been approached by several teams. Now that the season is on, there are a few things to open up in the coming months.

“We’re talking to some parties there. Once we know all the options, we make decisions. What’s very clear to me is that we only come back if the project makes sense, and that’s something I can enjoy.

“I’ve already spent a lot of time in Formula 1. I’ve done most of it. Once you step back, you realize how much you’re giving up in life to be in the sport. So, to be completely committed to Formula 1, you need a motive.

“It’s good to be in this position knowing that people are passionate about you as a drive. People have short memories in Formula 1.

“Of some races, they’ve forgotten what you did. People have noticed that my position is not the easiest in Formula 1. And I’ve been doing very well overall.”

One of these teams is believed to be Cadillac, who took part in the Formula 1 Grid in 2026.

The new American business has already outlined that they are looking for experienced Formula 1 drivers to place in one of their seats, and Perez fits the bill.

Perez backs up the horned horns and succeeds in Red Bull

Perez also remained in Red Bull’s decision to trade Yuki Tsunoda with Liam Lawson, who had retreated to succeed in the main team after a shock promotion.

“We have a lot of friends on the team, so we want the team to do well,” Perez added. “I spent four years with them and I want to see them doing well, and it’s very difficult to talk about.

“I’m outside right now. I’m in touch with some of the team members there, but it’s hard to know when I’m not there internally (what’s going on).

“For me, it was very easy. The car then gets 100% and it’s very difficult to gain confidence.

“But I wish them the best. My great friend Woody is now engineering Yuki, so I really hope they do well.

“Yuki has talent, speed, and more than that, he needs a mentality to deal with it. I think he has the right mentality and the right attitude to deal with it. I hope they succeed.”
