The All-Star break would not have come anytime soon for Los Angeles outfielder Tescal Hernandez.
Los Angeles won a 5-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon. For many on the team, that means a much-anticipated resting place where the proverb battery can be recharged. A few have created an All-Star team, including the Clayton Car Show.

Speaking of rest, Hernandez is someone who benefits greatly from a few days of holidays. Gently speaking, Hernandez has struggled in virtually every aspect.
Hernandez is batting .256 for 14 hours of the season, hitting 57 runs. Despite the .751 OPS, Hernandez is heading towards the bottom of the league with Whiff-centerage and Walk Rate. He is also in the first percentile of defense. This means he is very likely ranked as the worst off-defensive outfielder in all of baseball.
To be fair to Hernandez, there is a reason for this. Mookie Betts’ shuffling to the infield moved Hernandez from the left field (where he should be played given the limits) to the correct field. Michael Comfort’s struggle has been highlighted all year round on the left field despite recent upticks.
Additionally, as Hernandez told reporter Kirsten Watson, he is battling a number of injuries that limit mobility in the outfield.
“It’s just a little bit of everything, but running is definitely something I feel the most. We walk our feet and use everything. It’s not going to get 100%, but I feel there, ready and feel good enough to do something for the team. Please help in any way you can.”
Hernandez’s dedication to Ballclub was never a problem. That’s why he is one of the most respected players on the team.
“It’s difficult. I like to play even in bad moments. I don’t really care about my way. I want to try and help in any way I can, especially when I get injured, because I can’t work the way you work.
“Especially with this, it’s my foot and it’s the front one, so all the weight, all the pressure lands on it, and at the same time, I’m trying to keep preparing.
If Conforto’s struggle continues, the may have to have a real conversation about what they will do. Hernandez would be better to play on the field on the left. Andy Page could be the best right fielder given the strength of the elite’s arms.
At that point, the center field spot will open. Tommy Edman is currently entrenched at 3 base, considering Max Muncie’s injuries. Page, James Outman and Haison Kim are all available to play in the center.

Trade with another outfielder could also be under work, given the team’s current construction.
