The Milwaukee Bucks are out of the NBA playoffs after lowering postseason morale.
Following Damian Lillard’s brutal Achilles injury in Game 4 defeat, the writing of the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA playoffs was on the wall. But they actually fought it on the way to eliminate in Game 5.
Entering Game 5 with the Indiana Pacers, Giannis Anteto Compo, the Bucks bravely fought back to Milwaukee.
After becoming the nameless hero of the Bucks in Game 3, Gary Trent Jr. became an unwanted villain.
His expensive sales with the remaining 10.8 seconds drove the team’s 119-118 overtime loss against the Pacers, leading the Tyrees Halliburton game winner.
It was an overwhelming end for Trent JR, who led the Bucks with 33 points in the game before his ball fumble dropped the curtains for the Milwaukee season.
Apart from Giannis Antetokounmpo lost cool at the end of the game, Gary Trent JR’s late mistake was one of the big topics.
And while the responsibility is on the Milwaukee veteran, AJ Green argues that this would not have happened if he hadn’t made any significant mistakes before that dramatic sequence.
The Bucks were leading 118-114, but still giving one foul, but Green used it as Halliburton nailed a successful three-point play.
This brings the Pacer closer to a one-point game, and that foul could have been used by the Bucks to limit Halliburton for final possession.
“One was on me. I can’t foul,” Green said. “I had to keep the ball better and lock it in better.
“I think we can help each other better, he’s going to take shots and I think he’s a good player.
Like Trent Jr., Green also played strong in this must-see Game 5 for the Bucks.
After Kyle Kuzma’s horrifying struggle continued from the series’ opening game, Green scored a nod to the start, finishing productively with 19 points on a 6-10 shooting from the third inning.
However, this foul mistake he made turned out to be another negative game-changer for the Bucks, which led to their ultimate downfall.
“We thought we made two big defensive mistakes. We came out of the timeout and were supposed to use it and we didn’t use it. They’re what kills you.
“I think it ended up with a three-point play for Halliburton, so these games, they’ll kill you.
“The stretching run is something you have to have and we have to own it. We failed in that department tonight. But give them credit. They will stay there.”
