It’s no secret that the Los Angeles have some real issues in the outfield.
Michael Comfort was undoubtedly the worst position player to earn daily playing time in the big leagues this season. Teoscar Hernandez has seen his production plunge offensively and defensively over the past few months. Andy Page has a brief season of bundles, but he was recently questioned by a lack of contradictions and fuss.
With Zyhir Hope, Josue de Paula and Mike Sirota still in the minor leagues, the team is looking forward to the younger options with high productivity levels next year. Conforto is almost certain that it will not be re-signed. Page is under the control of the team and will probably not go anywhere considering his age, advantages and low cost.
Hernandez is a strange case. Despite being a major hero in the 2024 World Series, this year was extremely overwhelming. There were a few people who were a little skeptical of Hernandez being re-signed in the first place. Soon to turn 33, Hernandez is spending another two years in 2028 with a book that doesn’t include club options. There is a world where you can offload him this winter and free up space for upgrades.

Come to think of it, that upgrade could be Kyle Tucker. The current Chicago Cubs star outfielder is set to make its debut in the open market in a few months. The Cubs would want to re-up with him, considering how good he is historically. At 28 years old, Tucker is looking to win cash spectacularly.
Bob Knight Engale USA Today Sports I recently spoke to some executives in the league. The general sentiment is that Tucker could end up on the West Coast.
“Despite the struggle since Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker’s All-Star break, he hit .242 with five Homer and 17 RBIs, but rival executives believe he will become the highest-paid player at a free agency.
There is a clear risk in giving Tucker a more likely contract of 10 years and a $400 million contract. Mookie Betts, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Shohei ohtani are already making huge amounts of money. That being said, Tucker represents an upgrade to one of the current outfield options.
Despite being somewhat slump over the past few months, Tucker is still above average batsman and has kept strikeouts to a minimum. He has a great eye (98th percentile in chase percentage and 96th percentile in walk percentage) and his ability to play the ball is something the can desperately use.
All these strange aspects are Hernandez’s condition. For Tucker to become a reality, he will probably have to be moved. There is also a consideration that the majority of the best prospects in the system are outfielders. This could force Tommy Edman to become the everyday dual base again. Alternatively, it could potentially open up the idea that one of these respected outlooks could move for another proven work.
Either way, I think it’s a very interesting and interesting offseason.
