It’s great news that the Los Angeles Lakers and Luka Donsic agree to a contract.
But at the same time, many are wondering what the $165 million extension means for Luka Donsic’s LeBron James’ future.
After all, James’ future has been controversial since choosing the $52.6 million player option for the 2025-26 NBA season.
Even if Los Angeles Lakers GM Rob Perinka cleared up the air about James’ future in Los Angeles, rumors about his departure refused to die.
An important incident that promotes rumours about LBJ’s misfortune with the Lakers was the absence of King when Donsic signed an extension of the contract.
After all, many notable players like Marcus Smart and Deandre Ayton were on the 26-year-old side. Radio host Jason Martin disrupts James’ behavior in a recent episode of Fox Sports Radio.
“LeBron James thinks he wanted to stand out by his invisibility. He wanted to talk about it, noting the fact that he wasn’t there,” Martin said.
Martin added: “…It’s not particularly interesting that Luka will remain a Laker.
“He left a little money on the table, but he could put it in line. He’s betting on himself.”
Given that Doncic filmed becoming the Lakers’ most powerful player with a $400 million decision in 2028, it’s not hard to measure the 5X NBA All-Star left money on the table.
James has faced continued scrutiny of his actions over the past few weeks. However, LBJ is consistently clearing the air about them.
Here is a photo of his recent viral workout, either taken at the Cleveland Cavaliers training facility or with the LA Clippers logo in the background.
Back to Martin’s comments, he called out James for what he thought was playing golf all day when James signed a three-year extension with the team.
“…So it wasn’t particularly a meat topic except for his ex-lovers who still want everything about him. And it’s not so, so the Clippers logo is looking at the training photos in the background. There’s a strange tweet.
“We see all these different things, ‘There’s nothing to talk about when we’re in the Summer League,” Martin continued.
Martin only proposed a theory of James’ absence, despite the likes of Austin Raves and Jake Laravia not attending Luka’s contract signing.
“And now we see a very prominent absence and there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that it was calculated to ensure that there is a lot of evidence that his absence is not a specific reason.
“So we found out he’s playing golf all day long. He made sure everyone was watching it,” the Fox Sports Radio host concluded.
