The 27-year-old Gorsky has played in 15 games against the Pittsburgh Pirates this season, bringing him to 8-41 (.195) on two home runs and four runs.
Gorsky received a triple-A option on May 17th and was on the minor league injury list more than a week later. On June 19th, he transferred to the minor league 60-day injury list. His current health is unknown.
The Pirates assigned and designated Gorsky on July 11th, and he cleared the exemption and was released by the team. Within two weeks he has got a chance with one of the best teams in baseball.

Gorsky was originally his second round pick by the Pirates in 2019. He has risen through minor leagues and was ranked as the team’s 17th overall prospect in 2023, per MLB pipeline.
The right-hander appeared in 152 career games in the Triple A, cutting .254/.313/.509 with 30 home runs and hitting 89 runs. However, he was unable to translate that success with a short stint at the MLB level, and Pittsburgh moved out of him earlier this month to create a room at Yohan Ramirez, 40-40-Manost.
Golsky will likely report to Triple A Oklahoma City. In Oklahoma City, assuming he is healthy, it provides tissue depth.
