The team insisted on a one-base-handed Buddy Kennedy from the Toronto Blue Jays exemption. Right-handed pitcher Julien Fernandez was designated for allocation according to the team’s trading log.
Who is Buddy Kennedy?
Kennedy, 26, was designated for assignments by the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday after appearing in two games.
In six games this season between the Blue Jays and the Philadelphia Phillies, the right-handed batsman has gone 1-1 (.083) with two walks and three strikeouts.
Kennedy was originally drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the fifth round of the 2017 MLB Draft. He made his debut with the Diamondbacks in 2022 and played 40 games with Arizona in 2022 and ’23 before being designated as a challenge and joined the then Oakland Athletics.

Kennedy has been hitting the league since adding a stint alongside the Detroit Tigers, Phillies and Blue Jays. He appeared in a total of 60 games at the MLB level, reaching .193 with two home runs, 19 RBI and .588 on OPS.
The listed Kennedy as their first baseman, but he played 2 bases mostly at the MLB level, spending time with 3 bases and 1 bases.
In the minor leagues, he appeared in the game on one base, two base, three base, and the left field, logged in several times with short stops.
In both Philadelphia and Toronto organizations this season in Triple A, Kennedy has cut .268/.372/.408 by eight home runs, 45 RBI and OPS by .780.
Julian Fernandez designated for the assignment
As for Fernandez, the right-hander joined the on a minor league contract this past offseason, playing in one game at the big league level this season, earning two runs in two innings.
In Triple A, Fernandez made 35 appearances and won a 3.05 ERA in 41.1 innings.
