Tom Aspinall’s first official defense as the indisputable heavyweight champion is set!
On Thursday, Dana White announced the blockbuster on October 4th, including three major fights at UFC 320. But perhaps the biggest news was the announcement that Aspinel would place his heavyweight crown on the line just weeks after Abu Dhabi’s UFC 321 on October 25th.
According to White, Aspinall faces former interim title holder Ciryl Gane, a top-ranked candidate in the division.
This will be Aspinel’s first fight since defending his interim belt against Curtis Braides in July 2024. Aspinel was promoted to the indisputable champion in June after John Jones announced his retirement from the sport.
Shortly after Jones’ exit, Aspinel vowed to be the combat champion – a division that he has never seen in years.
Gain is trying to cut Tom Aspinel’s time with Abu Dhabi’s title short
It is Gane who hopes that Aspinall’s indisputable reign will be shortened. Gane is a 10-2 fighter jet in the Octagon that has received remarkable victory, including Junior Dos Santos, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Alexander Volkov and Derrick Lewis. “Bon Gamin” takes him to the opportunity for his third UFC title, winning three of the last four and winning.
His only two losses under the UFC banner came to Francis Ngannow and John Jones.
So far, only two other fights have been announced against UFC 321. This includes a 205-pound showdown between heavyweight title eliminators between Gailton Almeida and the aforementioned Volkov, Aleksandar Rakic and Azamat Murzakanov.
