The Padres and Giants are just one game behind the in the National League West standings that will be in the Monday night series opener against the Friers. NL West is undoubtedly the best division of baseball, and these next sets of games could have a big impact on the rankings.
Baseball business president Andrew Friedman has made abundantly clear that the ‘ priorities remain a victory over the division. After the cut two longtime players, Friedman focused on the tight division race as a reason to say goodbye to Austin Burns and Chris Taylor.
“I think it’s in line with the consistent message that with the improvements we’ve seen over the years, we’re going to be in tight division races and do everything we can to win,” Friedman said last month.
So the are probably tasked with the toughest challenge of the year in these next three series. Utilityman Tommy Edman has revealed that the defending champions are embracing the challenge and looks forward to competing against both rivals they have not faced since 2024.
“We’re excited to play them,” Edman said. “It’s kind of odd that we got to this point without playing them or the giants. We have a lot of games against those people.
The first pitch for the Monday Night series opener is 6:40pm. Petco Park should be shaken up by what is likely to be a playoff vibe in the 2024 NLD rematch.
