Tottenham plans to sign a new midfielder this summer, but it appears they are set to lose one of the major targets in that position. Worse, now it’s Atletico Madrid who wants to sign Christian Romero.
Aside from winning the Europa League, it was a disastrous season for Tottenham, who finished 17th in the Premier League. For them to start the competition near the top of the table again, the Post Coglow team needs a big opportunity for the Ange Post team, and the midfield is one area where they have plans to deal with.
Johnny Cardoso is one of the club’s major midfielders’ targets, but it appears he is now planning to refuse to move to North London in support of staying in Laliga.
Tottenham’s mid-range target prefers to move to Atletico Madrid
As Marca reported, Atletico is ready to make the Cardoso move after waiting until Real Betis’ involvement in the UEFA Conference League is over. They are trying to close the deal right away, and the players themselves are said to prioritize Riadhhair’s move to Metropolitano.
Personal terms have been agreed mostly between Cardoso and Atletico, and discussions with Betis are expected afterwards. Tottenham will sign a deal with the LA La Liga to lower the price to US international, but that does not guarantee a move.
Caldosaw will still have a final say, even if Tottenham makes the move. And now his desire is to join Atletico. And if this remains, Europa League winners will need to look elsewhere for new midfielders that are far from ideal.
