Jean Silva had done something good by putting Bryce Mitchell to sleep after playing with his food on Saturday night and promising a highlighted finish in one of the most anticipated battles at UFC 314
He got off to a slightly slower start, but Silva finally found his range, and he just punished Mitchell with his feet and stuffed all the takedown attempts that came him. After recording a knockdown in the second round, Silva stayed on the attack, and he actually forced Mitchell to tap out when he actually fell asleep from obedience.
The end came at 3:52 in the second round.
“I’m the next champion!” cried Silva. “I was surprised because I thought it was part of the game (to touch the gloves)
At first there was a lot of nervous but busy energy from Mitchell, but he managed to connect with some solid kicks to keep Silva honest. Silva laughed back at him, but didn’t actually unleash his power strike, but he eventually began to show more effective attacks as time was ticked in the opening round.
That’s when Silva misses the spinning heel kick, followed by a guillotine choke where Mitchell had Mitchell in serious trouble just before the horn rang.
As the second round began, Silva settled in rhythm as he blasted Mitchell with his hard right hand dropping Arkansas, native to canvas. Instead of going to the ground, Silva invited him to his feet, where an impressive exchange continued.
Mitchell began to struggle a little more desperate with the takedown, and Silva shrugged him relatively easily. Using superior speed and power, Silva hammered Mitchell, then took advantage of another grappling attempt to grab onto the ninja choke.
Mitchell tried to unfold from the choke, but instead Silva secured a grip and put his opponent to sleep just a few seconds later, making his submission so intense.
After calling out Mitchell following his previous victory, Silva announced his performance at UFC 314. He will be a problem for those who will come after him at featherweight. He is currently 5-0 in the UFC, with all five fights finished by knockout or submission.
