Carlos Ulberg vs. Dominick Reyes is the official UFC Perth, but another battle is off the card.
This Saturday, UFC Perth went down in Australia, with a prospect of a five-round fight between two surged light heavyweights, with both men successfully completing the match on Friday evening.
Reyes first took the scale that came in at 206 pounds using the 1 pound allowance. A few minutes later, Ulberg came in with a 205 pound championship weight.
But while the main event is official, not everything is perfect elsewhere, one fighter loses weight and another fight falls completely off the card.
Justin Tafa, who is scheduled to face Louie Sutherland in the main card heavyweight match, was removed from the event during weigh-in due to illness, according to the UFC. Tafa was doing that, but Sutherland tilted the scale at 259 pounds and didn’t try to build weight. This is the second match to the collapse of UFC Perth, just as Oban Elliott retreated from a planned fight with Jonathan Mikaleff due to illness earlier this week.
Another main card battle also suffered from a retreat. Ramon Taveras came at 1 pound across the limits of the 146 pound featherweight for a feature fight with Jack Jenkins.
