We’ve had some good fights against Virat and Rohit over the years – Chris Woakes
The English All-Round has recently had a good fight with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for many years, and their retirement is a shame for the cricket match.
However, he added that the depth of Indian cricket is amazing and that “high standard” players will fill the shoes of veteran batsmen.
“It’s always good to stand up against the strong opposition that enters a Test series that you know will be a fierce battle. We’ve had a good fight with Virat and Rohit over the years. For the game itself, it’s a shame they’re not there.”
“But there is a lot of depth in Indian cricket and I am sure that the incoming players will be at a very high standard that has proven themselves in some way,” he added.
KL played really well – Chris is Walks
Rahul was likely to open an inning against the UK, so he took part in his second unofficial Test against the England Lions, preparing for a five-match series against the UK.
He sparkled with the bat in the game and hit 116 runs with 168 balls. His innings consisted of 15 four and six. Rahul was eventually fired by George Hill, but he contributed enough to put the team in a good position and saw a solid touch.
Speaking about Rahul, Chris Walking praised the Indian batsman, saying he hit a “good hundred” on the surface that wasn’t easy to hit.
“KL was really good at the ticket gates we’ve been there a little bit of the day. There was a bit of a quiet time, but we were doing something for most of the time,” Woakes said.
Honestly, I enjoyed all three – Chris Woek
Walks, who is making a comeback from an injury, picked up three wickets in the same unofficial Test match. He bowled 20 overs and handed over 60 runs while picking up wickets from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanu Eastwaran and Karun Naia.
Jaiswal’s firing was interesting as he was declared LBW by the judge after failing to connect with Woakes’ Inswinger. The left-handed batsman was furious at the referee after his wicket, but had to return to the shed.
Meanwhile, Woakes said he was happy with all three wickets he chose and how the ball came out of his hand. He said:
“To be honest, I enjoyed all three. I felt like I had a few more times, but I’m happy with how the ball came out. The most important thing for me was getting through the 17 overs.
