India’s national cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav won the hearts for his sportsmanship after 21 runs over Oman in the final group match of the Asian Cup 2025 ongoing in Abu Dhabi. Suryakumar Yadav took the time to encourage Omani players after the match and welcomed their efforts in the close contest on Friday, September 19th.
Players from both teams shared smiles and clicked on the photos together to show genuine friendship on the field. This gesture was in stark contrast to India’s recent actions towards Pakistan.

In the no-handshake controversy, Suryakumar clearly focused only on his team and avoided a complete discussion of Pakistan during his post-match post-match presentation in Oman. The Indian captain has decisively avoided getting Pakistani names ahead of Sunday’s Super Four Crash.
Sanjay Manjlekal asked at a post-match press conference, “Are they all set for Sunday matches against Pakistan?” In response, Suryakumar replied, “All are set to Super 4.”

Not only that, but in conversations with Omani players, Suryakumar chuckled Pakistan to the camera for the way he’d been playing cricket for the past few years.
Drilling into the green men, Suryakumar motivated the young Omani team and encouraged them to take pride in their cricket culture.
The Indian skipper praised Oman’s play of effort, attitude and style, recalling the level of cricket they brought to the match and encouraging them to continue improving for future tournaments.
He also emphasized that the Omani team is ready for ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier 2026, urging them to advance the cricket spirit and brand they have shown in their match against India.

Suryakumar Yadav said in a video posted by BCCI on its social media handle, “You did your best. Whether you win or lose, it will be determined by your attitude and culture. You will do your best before you.”
When a reporter said the team was preparing for the World Cup qualifiers, Suryakumar jumped in immediately saying, “Sir, I want to fix you. This Omani team is ready for ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers 2026.”
He said, “Remember the taste of the cricket brand you guys played – that taste. When you wake up tomorrow, remember the brand of cricket you guys played. Remember this.

Meanwhile, Omani captain Jatinder Singh also revealed his player’s conversation with the Indian captain after the match.
Jatinder said, “Surya spoke about this game and praised us. It praised us. We had questions about how our boys play at different stages of the T20 game. It was really good to chat with him.”
