The trade between the LA Lakers and Dallas Mavericks sent shockwaves throughout the league. And no one was more surprised than the player himself.
Luka Donsic was caught off guard by the Dallas Mavericks’ decision, but while one of the players was sent in the opposite direction, Max Christie admitted literally putting the floor on the move, which “denies” him.
One of the two players sent to the Lakers as part of the move was Markieff Morris. And he didn’t expect that either.
Morris had settled in Dallas, had just bought a house and admitted that the timing was “ragged” and didn’t expect him to be sent, causing the team to confused him that he might want him this later in his career.
Now, his brother Marcus Morris, a former NBA star, is giving insight into the deal.
Marcus Morris and Markieff Morris had called to discuss potential deals for other players ahead of the deadline to receive texts from Mavericks.
Marcus says there is a surprising silence in Yahoo Sports, and he asks, like almost everyone else in the world, “How does that make sense?”
Markieff Morris has already explained how he retired at this later stage of his career if he was traded with a team other than La Lakers.
He was previously on a team that won the title in 2020, but President Jeannie Bass apologized to Morris on his return for not keeping the team together.
“When he said the Lakers, I said, will you go to the Lakers?
“I think to myself. You could have won another championship.
He explained that the tough relationship between veterans Markieff Morris, Maxi Kleber and Luka Doncic was part of the hidden glow of the trade, allowing the superstars to settle down faster.
“And the part about that I don’t think a lot of people see is, “Kiev and Luka have a really good relationship like a really good relationship.”
“So I think they probably wanted Luca to feel better and go to a new place where you’re a teammate between your teammates.
“I think the dynamics of that really helped.”
He added that all of his final advice to Markieff was positive.
The decision to escape Luca Donsic has been widely panned and has worked so badly for the Dallas Mavericks up until now, and new arrival Anthony Davis was soon injured.
Marcus Morris says that even the former NBA star has internal connections, Mavericks doesn’t know why they decided.
“All the time, why couldn’t I put my finger… I really don’t.
“And I still don’t think this is a really good player for a player like Anthony Davis, a really good career. I don’t think they can match up to what Luka has done so far in his career.”
Shortly after the trade, Markieff Morris speaks up for his commitment and conditioning, Luka Doncic, supporting the NBA world to see how good he is, and the superstar has proven that all doubts are wrong.
