Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley are locked.
On Saturday, Dvalishvili posted the bantamweight title on the line with O’Malley in the main event of UFC 316. Then, on Friday’s ritual weigh-in, the two headed for the last moment before locking the corner again.
“I won’t kiss tomorrow,” Dvalishvili said, referring to the first fight. “I’m going to break this guy. And yet!”
O’Malley kept things even more concise, promising a return to the mountain top and a revenge for his rival.
“Too sharp, too fast, too focused, brand new!”
Dvalishvili vs. O’Malley 2 is not the only title fight on Saturday. The joint main event will feature a women’s bantamweight championship match between Giuliana Pena and Kayla Harrison. Dvalish vili and O’Malley paid considerable respect to their accumulation of battle, but Peña and Harrison had a little more heat between them, which appeared to each other in their final warning words.
“I’m a dangerous fighter,” Peña said. “When you counted me, you all took it into what you know. At the end of the day there are three paths to victory: from your back, from your cage, and with my feet.
“Juliana is great, but tomorrow he’s dead,” Harrison offered. “This is for God, my country, my family, and for me.”
UFC 316 will be down Saturday night at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, with the pay-per-view main card kicking off at 10pm.
