Arsenal is interested in signing athletic club Bilbao attacker Nico Williams during the summer transfer period.
The 22-year-old has been outstanding for the club and country for the past year, and he has also been linked to Barcelona. He prefers to take part in the Spanish champions, but they are more keen to sign Liverpool’s Louis Diaz.
According to sports, Williams is ready to cut his salary to join Barcelona. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is interested in securing his signature and they are willing to offer him a wage of 9 million euros per season. Barcelona cannot pay him such a thing.
Arsenal needs a Spanish attacker
Arsenal is also ready to trigger a release clause of 62 million euros. They desperately needed a dynamic attacker like him, and Williams was able to make a big difference for them in the final third. He is labelled as a “matured world-class player.”
Spanish International can operate anywhere across the Front 3, adding goals, creativity, pace and talent aside. He proved to be the latest news from Gabriel Martinelli, who was extremely overwhelming last season.
The 22-year-old had 11 goals and seven assists in his name last season. His numbers could improve when he’s playing on a better team, along with elite creators like Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka.
Can Arsenal convince Nico Williams?
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can convince players to join in on Barcelona’s place. It’s no surprise that he wants to take part in the Spanish champions. Joining them will allow him to continue his hometown. Furthermore, Barcelona is one of the largest clubs in the world, and every player is drawn to the idea of playing for them.
Arsenal certainly hopes Barcelona will decide to move in for Diaz instead.
