The final dance of Dustin Poilier is set.
On Friday’s episode of the Pat McCuffy Show, Poilier announced that he will face Max Holloway in the BMF title in his final match at UFC 318 on July 19th at the Smoothie King Center in his backyard in New Orleans.
“It’s going to be my last fight,” Poilier said. “I’m going to go back to Louisiana with gloves. Everything started for me. The whole journey has begun. I’m honored that the UFC was on the same page.
“On July 19th, me and Max Holloway will be competing with his BMF title five rounds, the main event and pay-per-view.”
Poilier said this was after losing to lightweight champion Islamic Makachev at UFC 301 this June. He came to his final battle, and he hoped it would happen in New Orleans. “Diamond” got his wish as it appears to go 3-0 against Holloway.
Holloway is equally pleased with the opportunity to get a measure of matchup and revenge against Poirier, posting on social media that he is pleased with Poirier’s final fight.
“I am honored to be the last dance of Diamond,” Holloway said.
After winning the BMF title in April 2024 with one of the biggest knockouts in UFC history over Justin Gaethje at the UFC 300, “Blessed” returns to light weight.
