The Los Angeles placed the right-handed pitcher on the list injured on Tuesday in a crash in the right shoulder. Sasaki became the 14th pitcher and landed in Illinois.

Sasaki will join Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Clayton Kershaw, Gavin Stone, Emmett Sheehan, River Ryan, Blake Trainen, Michael Kopeck, Evan Phillips, Bullsdahl Gretal, Kyle Hart, Michael Grove and Eggard Henriquez. He is technically the 15th “injured” pitcher, as Shohei Ohtani was not expected to take the mound until after the All-Star break.
The Kershaw is set to return on Saturday to make the first start of the 2025 season against the Los Angeles Angels. However, the timeline for returns for all other pitchers remains uncertain.
In recent years, the have dealt with injuries, particularly with their pitching staff. Baseball business president Andrew Friedman acknowledged that the history of the ‘ injuries motivated the team’s aggressive approach last offseason.

“When they reach this level, sometimes they get used to it in different roles and are taxed in a variety of ways that they may not be used to,” said Athletic Fabian Alda. “That’s one of the things we considered, we’re trying to prepare whether they’re coming in full, or whether the starter has become a bailout.
“When you come here, things change and it changes very dramatically. A guy may be pitching every six days. Suddenly, you’re expected to pitch multiple innings.
