Stephen Curry is undoubtedly the biggest three-point shooter in history, but even he can spend deep and cold ice days.
The Golden State Warriors superstar had an undeniable effect on the rise of modern three-point shooting.
Obviously, Curry has plenty of three-point shooting records in his name. A big reason to separate Steph from others is his consistency in shooting from the deep.
In fact, heading into Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals, Curry had 233 straight games, making at least one 3-pointer. However, after that game, the winning streak broke.
Curry-led warriors faced the Boston Celtics in the High Strength 2022 NBA Finals. Clearly, curry was expected to take over the series.
But when it was most important, the assassin who met the baby was deep and ice cold. In Game 5 of the series, Steph shot Abysmal 0-of-9 over the ARC. But did that bother the 4x NBA champions? no.
“I’m not afraid to go no matter how many zero people go because I keep filming and keep taking shots that I feel normally can make. And when there was such a game from the three-point line, I responded well,” Curry said after the game.
He added:
“One other way of trying to influence the game and the fact that you know is the fact that the four guys stepped up in meaningful ways to help us win insultingly.”
Despite the terrible night of curry, why did you make him so happy? Well, that was the fact that the Dubs took a 3-2 lead in the final behind the 104-94 Warriors victory despite Steph’s overwhelming filming night.
“So it’s all about it. Yeah, the fire is on fire, so I want to make a shot, but the rest is about how to win the game,” Curry said.
While Steph’s streak of making three-pointers in 233 games and 132 playoff games was broken, the Warriors star showed praiseworthy confidence after a disastrous night.
As he said, the game still bothered him.
However, Curry trusted himself and issued a subtle warning to Game 6.
“Obviously, the achievements say they’ll shoot the ball better in the next game, and I’m looking forward to that bounceback,” Curry concluded.
Before Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals, Curry had five instances that were unable to make a single shot from three points lines. But after such a game, Steph shot a sensational 46.2% from deep in the next contest.
So, has history repeated itself? That was certainly the case when curry entered Game 6 with hot hands. He finished the night with 34 points with a six-11th shooting display from the three-point line.
In the process, he also won the Celtics 103-90 as Dub won the 2022 NBA Championship after a fierce battle series.
