If you think Tony Ferguson vs. Habib Nurmagomedov Saga is over, think again. Ferguson threw another curveball as fans packed hopes that these two UFC legends would be squared. This time he has a solid hatib with reality television and his cross in his vision.
Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
In a recent interview, Ferguson revealed that he has his eyes on coaching the Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season, but only if Habib is on the other side of the gym. “In the ultimate fighter, it was always going to be against Habib. That’s the only person I want to coach,” Ferguson said, giving fans a new dose of matchups that they never did. This was related to this week’s TUF 33 debut.
For those new to the saga, Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov were the UFC’s ultimate “they aren’t.” The two were booked to compete in the fifth round rather than the second. Each attempt has fallen apart due to injuries, weight loss disasters and a global pandemic.
Undefeated lightweight king Khabib Nurmagomedov retired in 2020 with a perfect record in place, but Ferguson, known for his wild fighting style and wild sound bits, continues to fall into the division.
Now, Ferguson wants to take his rivalry out of the octagon and take him to TUF’s house. “I can’t wait to coach at the show… when it comes in, I coach people to train them to kill people. He said he’s never going to move away from the dramatic phallo.
Tony Ferguson’s enthusiasm for coaching is clear, and he claims he is ready to pass on the disruption of his unique brand to the next generation. “When I got there and put it behind talent and conditioning, they didn’t want to be cut off and returned, which means I teach it, and it isn’t just genetic, it teaches it.
Ferguson’s message to Habib was delivered in the trademark mix of Bravado and Wink.
It’s not anyone’s guess that Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is now more of a coach and businessman than a fighter, will bite. But if the UFC wants to be evaluated, bringing together Ferguson and Nurmagomedov under one roof is a difficult recipe to beat. After all, if they can’t fight in the cage, they might at least be able to fight it with a clipboard and whisper drill.
